9:24 am - (Insert Name Here) Has Been Born!
|
It's A Girl!!!!
She is the most beautiful little baby girl in the world. Her beautiful Mother did a great job and is much stronger than I ever gave her credit for (I always knew she was stronger than I but never the full extent of it).
The labor was a VERY long and VERY painful process. Lissie started contractions at 9 PM on Monday the 16th. The baby was born at 5:16 AM on Wednesday the 18th!
She is 7 lbs 10 oz 50 cm and doing very well. She pooped in the womb and had aspirated that, along with the length of the labor and being 10 days past due she was very stressed. She is doing much better today but has an eye infection and has been vomiting quite a bit of mucus.
Lissie had low blood pressure and quite a bit of blood loss which combined with her lack of sleep to make her very sick, weak, tired, dizzy, and faint. She passed out on her way to the shower and was helped up by a nurse. She is looking much better now and her blood pressure has come back up but she is still unable to sleep and feels awful!
I will attach some pics here and will surely have more posts to follow.

6:52 pm - 2 pics from the latest ultrasound
|
There are two new pics from the latest ultrasound we did on Monday. They gave us a bunch but they aren't really clear enough to see much of anything and most of what we got was pretty useless to us. The first is the baby's profile and second is the baby's feet it's hard to make out but I swear its the truth!
Thats all for now.

2:26 pm - Second Ultrasound
|
We went in for Lissie's second ultrasound this morning! The doctor said that everything looked fine and showed us all the parts. She wouldn't let me take a picture or video of it, and I forgot my glasses so I couldn't see anything! But Lissie said it was cool and we got to hear the heartbeat so that was nice. We should get the new film on thursday so hopefully you will be able to see something on one of those pictures!
Nothing new otherwise...still waiting!

8:13 pm - Miracle Fruit
|
I ate a Miracle Fruit today! The Synsepalum dulcificum Daniell or (Miracle Fruit) is a little berry that has a big seed in it. You put it in your mouth and mush it around so it coats your taste buds and inside of your mouth. It's a tropical west African plant that alters your taste buds so that sour things taste yummy! I ate a lemon raw after using this berry and it tasted better than anything you could imagine! It was so sweet and flavorful, you taste all the things in the lemon that you normaly don't taste because of the sourness. The Miracle Fruit takes the sour away! If you ever get a chance to try one of these I suggest you do so because it really is a "Miracle"
I also got a new Camcorder today! Wooohooo...well not yet...but I put the bid in. My wonderful Mother has elected to purchase it for me and I am very excited. It is a very good camera (Canon Optura 10) It has a 1 megapixel CCD! Loads of cool stuff and it comes with a free case, battery, and tape! Now I will be able to record my life here on video and Mail DVD's to everyone!
That's all the news for now...not much happening yet...still waiting to hear from immigration about working :P

3:48 pm - Added 60 Odd Pictures To Slideshow #3
|
There is a new slideshow here if you haven't noticed. Yes I finally got around to making it. There are 60 some pictures in it. Alot of the pics didnt turn out or just weren't very intresting so I trimmed it back quite a bit! I am thinking of making 2 versions of each slideshow, one small one for people with 640x480 and 800x600 resolutions, and the normal ones for people with real resolutions like 1024x768 or 1280x1024. Also the pictures are a mere 40k each so it should be fairly dial-up friendly!
As far as news goes nothing much has been happening. I submitted a form to immigration trying to get permission to work and Lissie has applied for government assistance so hopefully we will be bringing in money soon!
We have gotten quite a few gifts for the baby already. Grandma has made and is working on making some stuff and Rob has also produced a few things!
I still have not sold the computers which is quite a disappointment! I am going to call the Brisbane want ad's today and see about listing them there. Bundaberg just doesn't have enough people. Hopefully Brissy will be better! I even tried E-Bay and it seems people in Oz haven't discovered that miracle of modern enginuity yet.
Kevin from Com-Link the computer shop I worked at in Sun Praire for a while before I left might be comming down here for a visit. He got the OK from his wife and he has started an account for it already so that should be fun. Otherwise I think thats all the news for now!

12:38 pm - Our Wedding
|
We had the reception at 10:00 AM today and it was great! Very small and comfortable just like we wanted. Went off without a hitch. The ceremony went as follows. (I swear to god this is letter for letter don't mind his typos ;)
Now Kevin & Elissa we are here today to witness you taking each other as Husband & Wife, I call upon everyone present to be a fellow witness with me in this Marriage between Kevin & Elissa. We are here not only to witness their commitment to each other but to wish them every happiness in their life together.
In their relationship Kevin & Elissa have reached the conviction that they are for each other, they see this commitment as a serious occasion they approach it with a sense of reverence, but also with joy and happiness.
Real love between a man and a woman is perhaps the highest experience that is possible to mankind. Such love reduces selfishness, deepens personalities, but above all gives life new purpose and meaning.
Through marriage means the greatest intimacy between two persons that is possible to man. Yet this closeness should not diminsh but stimulate each partner to grow as an individual. A responsability of each marriage pertner is to be the guardian and encourager of the other need to be alone, to develop there own talents and qualities.
Kevin & Elissa I know that a relationship of true love can never be taken for granted but can only survive and grow when both maintain the will to openly and sensitively develop as equals in their relationship. It is this spirit that they now stand before us.
Love is always patient and kind it is never jelous; Love is never boastful or conceited is is never rude or selfish; Love does not take offense and is not resentful; Love takes no pleasure in other peoples faults but delights in the truth; Love is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope and endure whatever comes;
Before you are joined in marriage in my presence and in the presence of your family and friends, I am bound as you know to remind you of the solemn and binding nature of the relationship into which you are not about to enter.
Marriage is a voluntary and fill commitment of one to another. It is made in the deepest sense. To the exclusion of all others and is entered into with desire, the hope and firm intention that it will last for life.
Kevin will you take Elissa as your lawful wife, will you love and respect her, be honest with her, and standby her through whatever may come.
(here I squeaked something completely incoherent but managed to nod good enough that he continued)
Elissa will you take Kevin for your lawful husband, will you love and respect him, be honest with him, and standby him through whatever may come.
(here Lissie very bravely gave a strong YES!)
Kevin & Elissa you have come here freely to give yourselves to each other in marriage. In the presence os your family and friends I ask you now to exchange your marriage vows.
Face each other, take each others hands, and repeat after me.
I call upon the persons here present witness that I Kevin Paul DeBauch take thee Elissa Claire Dyer to be my lawful wedded wife.
I call upon the persons here present to witness that I Elissa Claire Dyer take thee Kevin Paul DeBauch to be my lawful wedded husband.
(then I dig for Lissies Great Aunties ring that her Grandma had given to us only 10 minutes earlier)
As you place the ring on the finger of Elissa please repeat after me, with this ring I thee wed and pledge my fidelity.
The giving and recieving of a wedding ring has long been a symbol of marriage, I hope for you Kevin & Elissa it may also be a symbol of pride, The pride of knowing you are husband and wife. As you have consented together to lawful marriage in my prsence and the presence of these witnesses by the giving and recieving of this ring I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride.
(I got a picture of the peck ;)
So that was it, I am a new new man, a real man, though its very hard to feel like it in my current situation I am very pleased to be the husband of such an amazing woman! I miss everyone very much and wish you could have shared with me in this great occasion but hopefully more people will be here in Sept when it matters the most to us! I promise I will get some pictures up just as soon as i can!
Love, Kev

11:17 pm - Damn I am lazy!
|
I don't really do much of anything yet still I can't find the time to put a few words down here. Valentines day is in 7 days! Lissie and I will be married in 13 days! Her birthday is in 17 days! and god knows what else! The baby is due August 8th and the wedding will be Sept. 5th for anyone that wants to come this is an open invitation. Come see Oz! Tomorrow is the last game of the VB series Cricket between Australia and India which should be very interesting. I kept score for Tim's cricket match today and it was alot of fun. It's amazing how complex the game is, scoring is very stressful because there are so many things to keep track of. My grandma had her 65th birthday party today and i hope that went well. We ate Pizza Hut for dinner today and I have concluded that no matter how hard I try nothing "American" will ever be american unless I go back to Wisconsin. Everytime I try to do or eat something American it comes out all wrong and I am disappointed. So fuck it! I'm a yobbo now so I'll do as the locals ;) Tomorrow we go to Maryborough to buy some bottles for me and my home brew project. 20 dozen for 60 bucks, they are 750ml bottles and good thick dark glass with pop off tops! Ian already got me a crown plunger from the market for 15 bucks so I am well on my way to my first brew! It is my lifes goal to make Guiness better...like I said LIFES goal, guiness has been around since the 1700's I think ;) SO thats whats new for now. I will try to update the pictures soon it's just a major pain in the bum!

3:50 pm - The BABY!!!!!
|
Lissie and I just returned from the hospital where she had her first ultrasound. The baby is about 10 weeks old now and it was so cool! You could see the head and little arms and legs. Even the heartbeat was apparent and it was quite the active lil bugger. I didn't think we would be able to see much if anything at all. I am amazed at how clear it was and how much it was moving around. Oh by the way...Lissie is pregnant. We are having a child and I am not going home. I love Australia (regardless of the heat) and I want to stay here to make a life for us. Tomorrow we will be getting married. On paper anyway. We will arrange a cerimony for mid to late August and everyone is invited. The baby will be just born hopefully and it will be a good time for everyone to come down as it will be fairly cool yet. Money is starting to get tight so if you know anyone in Bundaberg that wants a computer let me know ;) The people at immigration here have been very helpful and friendly. Quite the opposite from our USA system which drags its feet and tries their best not to help you. It seems that within 5-7 weeks I could be a legal resident and eligable to work here. Problem is the application for migration can't be processed until 1 month and 1 day from tomorrow because the wedding won't be legal until then. I will kep you guys up to date on whats happening here now that things really do seem to be happening...and fast!
Love, Kev

12:37 pm - New Years and everything since
|
New Years was a bit of a bomb. We had a great time here with Lissies parents and their friends Heather and Peter. But we left about 10:30 to meet some people downtown. We ended up spending 2 hours standing around a parking lot in front of McDonalds wondering what we should do. We celebrated the New Year by hearing screwing from a bar a couple blocks away.
Not much happened since. I played the back 9 at a course here the other day with one of Lissies friends Aaron. We had a good time though I shot horribly. The clubs were way too short and all they gave us in the rental set was a 2 wood, 4 wood, 9, 7, 5, 3, pitching wedge, and shotty putter. The grass was all dead and the dirt was like hard compressed sand. The ball rolled and bounced like nobody's buisness but it was hard getting used to hitting it in the foirst place. By the 3rd or 4th hole I started doing alright but by then I had lost 4 of my 5 balls. They had alot of balls stealing things set up. If you didnt stay perfectly on the fairway you may as well kiss that ball goodbye.
Tomorrow Lissie will be taking the Train down to Brisbane to try to find a job there. She can't find anything here and we are runnin g out of time. So it seems like we will be moving down there and trying to get me a permanent stay so i can get a job as well. I think I am becomming a burdon to the people of the house and things would prolly be better if Lissie and I found our own place. So wish us luck, thats it for now.
Love, Kev

1:47 pm - Christmas
|
Christmas was good this year, though I did miss everyone in my family alot. We started out Christmas eve with a lovely dinner. Lissies Nan, Pop (her mothers parents), Grandma (dad's mother), Brian (Grandma's friend), Aunt Judy (mom's sister), Aunt Ann (dad's sister), her daughter Kara, Ian, Rob, Tim, Sally, Lissie, and I were all present. We each did one gift after dinner, than had desert which was a Christmas Bom. It's an ice cream cake with fruit.
Christmas morning we woke and started opening gifts. We had the first course of brunch about half way through and the second course after we finished. Lissie and I recieved alot of nice things. Lissie bought me a fishing pole, and some tackle so I can go fishing now. I got a nice shirt from Ian and Rob as well as them paying for the LIVE tickets. I got Lissie a swimming pool, Ian a bird bath and some home brew mix, Rob a teflon frying pan and spatula, Tim a Half-Life CD-Key, Sally a puzzle, Nan and Pop a calender and chocolates, Grandma a cross stitch book, and Kara a soap basket and chocolates.
For Boxing day (the day after Christmas) we went to the Goonans. They are Heather, Peter, Leigh, Brock (Leigh's Boyfriend), Alice, and Matt (Alice's boyfriend). We had a lovely dinner with them and a swim in the pool. The next day we spent just hangin out. Went to see the new Lord of The Ring's movie that night. Came home yesterday and were lazy. Today is another lazy day with more company, they don;t seem to stop here. Everyone visits everyone else. Christmas seems to go for weeks with these people. I could not have asked for a better family to spend a Christmas away from home with. Everyone has been great and we had an excellent time. The food was good, the gifts were good, and the company was alot of fun.
I will be posting a third gallery of pictures tonight or tomorrow. I haven't had time to be at the computer and mess with it yet but it will come. It takes alot of work and time to do those so I hope people are loking at them. I would also like it if people would e-mail me or reply to my posts. I haven't really had much contact with anyone yet.
Thats all for now...I left alot out but you get the general idea.
Love, Kev

10:29 pm - Christmas is looming
|
Lissies nan and pop are here, Judy will be along Monday and the rest will be here next week at some point. Getting so close to Christmas entirely too fast! Yet I can't seem to believe it. It just feels so wrong that I can't manage to get into the spirit at all. I feel like I wouldn;t even miss this Christmas, in fact I am somewhat dreading it. I have already recieved a present from my mother which was a beautiful 15 inch flat panel monitor which I am greatly enjoying. The best present of the season is yet to come but I can't mention that quite yet.
Not much happening around here really. We went to a gathering of sorts last night and had a very interesting time of it. I hear for the first time in my life a real live person yodelling. I guess it's pretty common for old time folk/country music singers here. There was also an aboriginal chap there that put a curse on us at the begining of the "festival" type thing. He did this weirdo dance chanting in some strange language, it looked alot like an American Indian type of danceing thing. It was pretty cool and I am sure he didn't really curse us as it was called a "welcoming song". A drama club of children recited some poems and a few of them did very well. A guy recited a poem he had written with a bunch of puns on ozzie slang which was quite humorouss but I am sure none of you would understand a word, I barely did. Thats about as much excitement as I can drum up for this post. Oh wait, I saw a Kookaburra finally and got a not so hot picture of him, but i am sure I will see more. Til next time then.
Love, Kev

2:21 pm - Album #2

As you can see I have now embedded my journal on the webpage and added a second photo album. I will fix the page up a bit when I get time but right now I have way too much to do. I will be adding a links page so that you can select the pictures from a list as soon as I find a program which will do that for me. I don't feel like writing that much code! Otherwise nothin new...it;s very hot and humid and my clothes are soaked with sweat so I think i will go do some boogie boarding now :) You can leave a note for me at the bottom of each post in my jourtnal here by clicking "leave me a note" and posting as "anonymous" you don;t have to register or anything but please let me know who you are ;) thanks

11:04 am - My week away
|
I will be adding alot of pictures and more links later but right now I just want to let everyone know how it went.
We started off at Judy's on Fri. and it was still rainy and crappy. We got 5 straight days of the shit and it made for terrible picture weather but we still went out and saw some neat stuff. We didn't see all of the things I had hoped to but we will get back down there soon and hopefully get some better weather!
We started off by going in to the Gold Coast and seeing some neat stuff at an art gallery there. There was a very cool pigment and oil on canvas that I will post a picture of here.
The following day we went to Byron bay and walked up to the headland overlooking the bay. There was a very nice lighthouse there and the view was amazing. I took alot of pictures there but the light levels and poor visibility just do not do it justice! From there we drove to Lenox head where we had another very exciting view and finally a bit of sunshine, though it didn't do much good because the sun had already started to go down and the amount of light wasn't helpful.
The next day we went to Surfers Paradise and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe there. I had good American food and even got an MGD! Which was bottled in Victoria, lol. But none the less it was nice to feel at home for a bit.
We then drove to Brisbane where we stayed with Kara, Lissies cousin. We just spent the first day shopping and doing a bit of site seeing. We then went to the +LIVE+ show which was the best yet. I have been to quite a few concerts but this one was by far the best! My ears are still ringing. We could have gotten right up front because the place was small and not at all full, but it was very hot and we had 4 people which would have required us to litterly pack on top of each other. So we hung out about 15 feet from the stage. A small unheardof Ozzie band started us off with 3 mellow songs. Then Train came on and damned if that guy isn't the best singer I have ever heard. you wouldn't guess it from his songs but he can belt out better than anyone I have ever heard before! They played 8 songs including all 3 hits, ending with "Drops of Jupiter".
+LIVE+ came on after a short break and started us off with "Like I Do" They played it perfectly and mostly the whole show was great. I think they were a bit stressed out and very tired as they have not had a stop for 6 straight weeks and the next day was the first break they had. I am sure they were looking forward to it and just wanted to be done with the show. The songs were very hurried and Ed didn't talk much at all. Normally we would get a 5 min speach between each song but this time he was sneaking back stage slugging back wine between each song and offering words only twice. Next in line was "The Sanctity of Dreams" then "All Over You" which was a bit slow and not like it should be. They went on to play "Stood Up For Love" and "Shite Town" which was great as always! "Pain Lies on The Riverside" got absolutely no response from the crowd and as far as I could tell only 1 other person in the crowd even knew the song! They then played from the new album with "Runaway", "Sweet Release", and "Life Marches On". We got a nice string of "Lakini's Juice" (which was full of as much energy as anytime before), "Run To The Water", "Dolphins Cry", and "I Alone" all done very well. They played "Heaven" as the last song of the main set and then left the stage without a word! 5 Min later Ed returned to stage alone with his acoustic guitar and proceeded to play "Overcome" again having said nothing. They then led into "Selling The Drama", "Lighthouse", Lightning Crashes", and of course "White Discussion" which was loud and hard as ever. The only good comment out of Ed the whole night was "holy shit thats loud" right before he jumped up on the drummer platform and egged Chad Gracey on to "go harder" which he did for quite a while. Then with a simple "thank you, have a good night" they were gone.
My ears are still ringing now 2 days later but we are back in Bundy after a nice drive through the Glass House Mountains. We stopped off at Noosa Beach on the way where we took a walk through the rain forest. We spotted a Koala up a tree and I think I got some pretty nice photos of him despite his attempts to hide from us. But we have got quite a bit of work to do with all the stuff arriving from mom and some house chores to complete before the christmas gang arrives. I will update soon.

11:42 am - Cabarita Beach
|
I have arrived in Cabarita Beach at Lissies Auntie Judy. It is the 4th day in a row of non-stop rain. It's horrible! We are going to an art museum and a movie not sure what else is planned for the day but nothing like what we wanted to see at all so far! The last payment on the car has come through the bank so no worries there any longer. Hopefully she leaves feedback on it for me! Nothing exciting to say cause nothing has happened really just been sittin around praying for sun and dry ground. It is beautiful here though and even if it does not dry up I will try to get somne decent pictures to show you all! I am off to clean up after tea and hit the frog n toad.

12:23 pm - Raniy Day
|
Well it's been raining all day and alot of exciting stuff has happened so I figured now would be a good time to start a public journal of my accounts. I leave in 2 days for a trip down the coast and that should bring alot of new pics and intresting stories. We had Thanksgiving dinner here last night (kindda) it went quite well. Turkey came out great very moist and full of flavor. The stuffing was excellent, green bean casserole I found out is much better when you add water chesnuts and a few spring onions (challots). Burned the pies a bit but cooking here is much harder. For one everything is in Celcius and they used forced air ovens that get ALOT hotter than they should. Cranberries didn;t make it but the fruit salad was good. I used Grandma Donnas basic recipe and modified it a bit adding 2 TBLS of custard powder and 4 TBLS of sugar instead of te vanilla pudding as they don't have it here. It turned out well...not as good but still edible. We had a nice white wine with it and played cards after, it was really nice and felt good to eat cooking like we do back home. Been seeing alot of very neat things most of which are apparent in the photos which believe me are nothing like the real thing. The kangaroos still amaze me how they just hang out in the yard and pay us no mind. We have a nice little Possum friend that we named Perry who comes for a breakfast snack every evening. He will come right up to the door mat and wait for his treat then as soon as he takes it from you he will run up one of the veranda poles or run back to his tree fort. We also have a beautiful green tree frog named Felix, whom resides at the front or back veranda waiting for his spray of fresh water from our mist bottle. There is a flock of 6-7 Lorakeets that spend alot of time in the backyard playing around in the Gravillia. What I saw of Phoenix on the way over was very nice beautiful mountains and such. Didn't see anything impressive in L.A. but did have a nice view from my hotel room but for the fog. The trip was shit until I hit New Zealand and I felt the warmth of the air and looked out from the airport at the ocean and anticipated getting to Australia. Unfortunately taking pictures through windows does not work at all so none of the pics from the plane or airports really turned out. It wasn't until I got out of the car here in Bundy that I could start taking pics. I did get some great pics of Bundy that first day. They have this cool whale painting on the side of a building downtown and Bargara Beach is amazing. They have some cool old things like this seemingly useless tower and old iron bridge. The chooks are funny but lay excellent tasting eggs. It's funny but they have more bugs and geckos than you could ever imagine, but really the bugs stay away except for the damn Christmas Beatles which come out in large numbers every ngiht like June bugs but bigger and more annoying. They fly around iradicly bumping into you and falling from the sky with no warning. Ian took me to Hervey Bay and showed me the Orchid garden there and we saw alot of amazing flowers. They end with the Flying Dragon which is a very beautifully patterned native pitcher plant looking Orchid. All of the Orchids pictured are native to Australia! We also saw an Egret and beautiful Black Duck. But the rain has stopped and I am running out of gas. I will update as often as possible and try to keep the pictures in a constant flow to the website.
Love, Kev
